Samsung has confirmed that it will be holding its first Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Unpacked Event on January 17. The event will be held in person at the SAP Center in San Jose, California, but it will also be livestreamed on all Samsung’s official channels. The next generation of Galaxy S phones, which could be called the Galaxy S24, is expected to be part of this event. The brand has also begun accepting pre-reservations for the new handsets.
Samsung’s Unpacked event is coming earlier this year than its previous two non-foldable flagships, which were both launched in February. The Galaxy S23 series was released on February 1, 2023 and the Galaxy S22 lineup debuted on February 9, 2022.
The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024 event will begin at 11:30 PM (1:00 PM EST) on Wednesday, January 17, at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. Like previous Galaxy Unpacked events, it will be livestreamed on the company’s newsroom site as well as its YouTube channel. This date has already been rumored in some circles.
The event is expected to see the unveiling of Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy S devices, the Galaxy S24 lineup. The invite has the tagline ‘Galaxy AI is coming,’ which hints at the built-in AI features of the latest flagship series, which is said to include three models – the Samsung Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. The company says that the new Galaxy S series will “set a new standard for the most intelligent mobile experience yet.” It has also been teased to offer “a completely new mobile experience powered by AI.”
In addition, Samsung has opened a reservation program for the Galaxy S24 series through the company’s India website. Interested users can sign up for a VIP pass by paying ₹1,999. Those who want to be among the first to buy the handset will need to pay ₹1,999.
Samsung’s Galaxy S24 family is expected to come with Android 14-based One UI 6.1 and an AMOLED LTPO display with variable refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz. The Ultra variant is said to come with a 200-megapixel quad-camera setup, while the regular model could have a 50-megapixel triple-camera unit.
The company’s in-house Exynos 2400 chip could power the Galaxy S24 in every country except the United States and Canada. In the United States and Canada, the handset could come with a modified version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC called the “Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for Galaxy.” By contrast, the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S24+ are likely to have the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC for Galaxy in all markets.
Based on the information that has been leaked so far, the Galaxy S24 series is shaping up to be a significant upgrade over the Galaxy S23 series. The new phones are expected to feature improved camera systems, faster processors, and longer-lasting batteries. They are also expected to be powered by Samsung’s latest AI technology, which could offer new features and functionality.
